FP2000 forum - extensions Q - 3/31/2001 20:03:00
I'm just about to add a discussion forum to a website, thought (briefly) about CGI - then discovered the forum wizard in FP2000. It all looked - and indeed was - waaaay too easy! And literally within about 10 minutes it as good as done! All except a little editing of formats. I'm happy defining form fields, and with using frames (the layout that the FP2000 form wizard produces). Problem is - in order to see if it'll work in the real world (and to see what the results will look like in IE 'and' netscape) I need to spend the cash up front on an FP extensions host. Currently I run all my webs on a non-FP-extensions host. Is this forum here produced with a modified FP forum wizard? Or does anyone have a URL of one that is, so I can come and see how it looks in IE and netscape? ------------------ ___ cap " ... something is happenin, but you don't know what it is ... do you, Mr Jones ? ... Hi,If no-one comes up with an URL you could always try it out on a free host that supports FP extensions like Tripod. Cheers Andy ------------------ Internet Business Solutions S.L. (Spain) Dreamweaver Users Forum

This forum is not produced with FP though in it's original incarnation it was. It is powered by Infopop, aka the Ultimate Bulletin Board which is based on CGI. You will find a link at the bottom of every page.Indeed using the FP discussion web wizard is very fast, but it is not ever going to look anything like this. However unless your forums are going to be very busy it should be fine.

thought it was too simple ... I went in and signed up with tripod (great idea, thanks andy) and posted the test forum. unfortunately I got some error messages, went and configured my space to support FP and still doesn't work ... looks like I'll delve into the CGI afterall. FYI UBB = $500 UB2K = $39 installedUBB has better support, but UB2k is a fine product. www.ub2k.com ------------------ www.Signingshotline.com lists EVERY upcoming athlete autograph appearance in the US and Canada
