Use old box for backup-need instructions - 1/19/2005 6:58:16
I have an old P100 machine that has Windows 3.11 for Work Groups installed. I want to make it a peer to peer connection to my regular computer so that I can use the old clunker as a back-up storage location for my files. It has a Iomega ditto tape back-up drive and I have plenty of backup tapes that I could use. How do I network a Windows for Work Groups with a W2K machine? It's been too long for me to remember about WFWG3.11! What is the bare bones needed to have as an more up to date OS?

Hi Rita I can remember how to put WIndoze 3.11 FG on a network, but you have no chance when connecting to a W2k Network/machine. If you have more than 4MB RAM in the machine, you can go to Windows 95? I had that running on a 33Mhz once...damn that a slow heh. Let me know how much RAM you have in that box and I'll let you know how far you can go with the OS. On processor alone, you wont be able to go to Win 2K and most definitly not XP. Dan
