Password protecting - 3/31/2001 18:16:00
Can password protecting of a page be done as a client side action? Or does it need to be done via a server?

Can anyone steer me toward a tutorial that will help make it happen?

Whatever I do, I can't move past a greyed out security tab!!!

You need to have your site open from the server to change permissions.

File>Open Web and enter your site address in the folders box in the format http://www.mysite.com

Tried as you suggested. But I get a msg box...
the folder.....isn't accessible. The folder may be located on an unavailble volume or protected with a password. For details see C:\windows\temp\wecerr.txt

The server is FP2000 extensions enabled. No password is currently set, and I have password etc as I set the account up.

Must be missing something major here.

If you are on an NT server, its a server side request.
On Unix, you can password subwebs as the FAQ suggests.
By the asp extension, I assume you are indeed on NT

To be honest, I'm not sure about this one. I was trying it on a site hosted by hypermart.

Normally i'd be on a linux server. Have to ask questions.

Thanx
