Speaker problem.... - 1/19/2005 13:35:42
All of a sudden my Boston BA745 Speakers with subwoofer makes every sound seem like an echo.

Is this a hardware problem or is there some kind of control setting that might have gotten "bumped"

I've tried everything.

Thanks

Not sure what settings you have tried. Depending on your sound card and drivers/software, and what speakers you do have, you may want to play with the control panel/sounds and audio/audio/advanced settings. Looking at settings like surround sound, or speaker distance etc.

Minix,

I can narrow the problem down for you: it's reverberation. Hopefully this will show-up as a Boston search return.

bobby,

no microphonehas been installed.

Larry M.,

Thanks for the tip. I did find the Boston support issue on reverb, It told me to go to my sound card controls and turn off the "special sound effect" that casue this. I can't seem to find one.

Everything I've turned off doesn't seem to help.

Maybe the speakers just went bad?

have you tried unplugging one speaker at a time to see if you can narrow it down to one..?

Could also be your sound card or the speaker wires...

Could be a lot of things causing it, I suppose.

Minix,

I don't think so especially since the Boston knowledge base identifies the problem and even offers a solution.

Not being able to find the right doodad is maddening - Just happened to me with a mysterious "Progressive Scan" button supposedly resident on a recently purchased Sharp Aquos Plasma TV remote. Had to call tech support for the secret (it really was) and suggest you do the same with Boston - time for them to divulge the whereabouts of their "genie in the bottle".

I think it's the Sound Card people I have to get a hold of - SB Audigy Audio.
