mfalk -> Hiding HTML (4/2/2001 14:43:00)

Here's one I have't found yet. Does anyone know how to hide the HTML Source on a site?

Thanks,

Mark

Nope - Can't be done.

The source code has to already be "on" a machine in order for the browser to parse it.

Try www.nasset.com and click on view source. You get a blank page. If someone really wants the html they can just save as and then view it in FP.

Mark - I think in the past 9 years I've seen just about every attempt. It can't be done. You can disable "right click", leave a bunch of white space (like the one you posted), use a framset with a few tricks, etc., etc., etc. - but in the code has to be available to your browser or you couldn't see it.
All you can do is make it "harder" for someone to view.

I've seen a number of sites that put tons of white space at the top of the source code to make folks think they've hidden the code. It does fool some people.
