darrenwilson -> 'Add to Wish List' without Shopping Cart --help needed (1/21/2005 20:03:03)

I am building a site for someone who wants to display hand-made custom jewelry pieces in an online catalog, but NOT sell online with a shopping cart. Since the pieces are one-of-a-kind, she doesn't want to sell online, rather wants to have phone contact with each customer. I can do everything necesary for this except...

She wants an 'add to wish list' option so users can select a few of their favorites and 'save' them for when they evenetually call in their order on the phone.

Is there a way for me to allow users to 'save' database records on thier own page? Can I do this using the same database that manages the products?

Any help or advise will be greatly appreciated.

Assuming the user allows cookies, you could just store their wish there.
It depends how you want the data to persist.

Using a database method will mean the data will be stored (but not necessarily used)
Using cookies, the data is stored with the user (on that PC) but could be lost if they clear cookies.

I was thinking about using a database so that the owner could see the wish list from her end too. That way, both the customer and shop owner are lloking at the same data while speaking on the phone.

What I am having trouble with is how to pass on the product info from, let's say, a page with a necklace on it, to another page on which a wish list would be displayed.

I need the beginner/interm. solution for this.
