Randomly asking for username & password - 1/25/2005 16:26:31
Hello everyone :)
I'm new to these forums and pretty new to Frontpage 2003!
Hopefully I can learn lots from you, but in the mean time I am in need of some help.

A number of users are experiencing a rather random issue, when accessing pages on the intranet, where they get prompted for a username and password to either:
a) access a page
b) save that page
c) when they hit the back button the msg some times pops up.

When saving the page, people can click cancel and it will give them the Save As box and allow them to save as usual, but it's perturbing and something we'd like to fix!

In terms of what files are being accessed, these are Word and Excel... but the people who are experiencing option C went to view a word document, and when they click BACK to the html document they get the pop up box.

We're on IIS6, Frontpage 2003 and on a 2003 server.

Any help and advice on what causes this and how this can be fixed would be deeply aprpeciated.

In IIS, select the Properties of the web in question and check Directory Security. There should only be Anonymous access checked.

If you need other permissions (Integrated Windows, etc.) set them at the subdir or page level.

That any help?

EDIT: Oh yeah, Welcome to Outfront! :)
