Could someone direct me to a simple java applet that scrolls text horizontally that I could change the background color and font and the scrolling speed. I have been searching for one and I have came up empty handed.

I have seen those kind of applets all over the web. You can almost always download/copy the code for them because they are client side scripting.

There are also many, many other websites besides the one above.
