JacieClaeys -> Firefox making me crazy (1/28/2005 2:06:43)

Last nite I downloaded Firefox. After installing I immediately began having problems. It kept saying it couldn't find any of the URL's and wouldn't let me connect. So I uninstalled it. But it still wouldn't go away. So I removed it using my control panel Add/Remove programs. It still wouldn't go away. So I physically removed every file I could see one by one in Windows Explorer. IT STILL WON'T GO AWAY.

I am unable to access any url that I receive by email because it goes to Mozilla and then won't connect. I can't get my firewall to set up any access rules for it. I can't set up any manually that will take hold.

Anyone have any suggestions on how I can wipe this totally off of my computer? I want Firefox but these files must be corrupted and I need to start over. I have even tried redownloading and reinstalling. But I am not getting all of it. the mozilla.org file that was there last night is not there after reinstall. So I still have the same problem. I have read their faq and any thing else they have to offer but find nothing for this problem.

For right now I just would be happy to get rid of it.

Need help PLEASE.
Thanks much for any tips you can give me.
Jacie

Mmmm, extraordinary situation. I've never heard of anyone have trouble with FF like this.

But ... for the interim, so you can access URLs, do the following:

Go to Start Menu > Control Panel > Internet Options > Programs (tab) and then check the option at the bottom which says "Internet Explorer should check to see if it is the default browser". Then click "OK".

Next open IE and when it asks if you want it to be "default browser" click Yes/OK.

But really, if you have properly/fully uninstalled FF, I can't see why or how it would still be able to be trying to open URLs. More geeky types than me might know [8|]

Thanks Kitka. When I installed I said I didn't want Firefox to be my default browser but it seems that is. It has been so long I had forgotten how to get IE back as my default. That should at least take Firefox out of the mix. I installed Opera last week and had no problems at all. hmmmm.
Much appreciation.
