I want to make a default.asp my home page so that when someone enters that directory it automatically picks it up.

That's a server setting. You may be able to request this of your host. If you're on NT now, I'm surprised that Default.asp isn't already set as your default home page.

When you publish with FP, FP looks up the server setting on the destination web and changes your default home page file name and all links to it accordingly. Some folks never open their hosted site in FP. You may find that your home page is already named Default.asp of you open the hosted site.

You can open the hosted site just like a local site. File > Open Web > Type in http://www.url.com
