getting ranked - 1/31/2005 14:50:07
Hi all, I've been pulling my hair out for the past 2 months trying to figure out how to get a ranking above 2 on google, to get the 'similar pages' button to direct me to sites like mine from googles toolbar and to be positioned in yahoo and msn. I get zero results on all, I think it's time that I reach out for help. Can someone look at my site and tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I keep reading that google has some secret algorithm set up to determine which sites are hot and which are not. If thats the case then why are so many sites successfully ranked? All suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance.

for starters you have no header tage (<h1> <h2>) and almost no html text for the spiders to read!!!!!!!! even your most signicant textual passage: .com presents you an on-line solutine etc etc is not text -its a gif image. spiders cannot read that so you page basically has no content as far as they are concerned

Thanks a lot guys, I've made some changes based on your comments. I guess it's a sit and wait game from here. Any other suggestions are welcomed.

You need moer textual content on your homepage. Try having an about blurb or somthing. How is google to know what your site is all about??? Google will not index more than the 1st page until you are pagerank 2 or above.

You need to get listed in dmoz.org. It takes 6 months or longer to get listed. Do you have any friends that have a site with pagerank? All you need is any pagerank number. Ask them to link to your site.

It's good you posted your link in this forum. Give it a month and you will have google crawling you. Whenever you post make sure your like is there.

Whenever you post any kind of message on the internet include a link to your website.

Could you drop a link to that one please?

Take care,

No, no, no. You do not need dmoz.

I was wondering as I never heard that one before but with SEs new things pop up every day. That is why I requested a link to the source so I could review and expand my knowledge.

Take care,

Brian

Not necessarily. Depends which category and whether it has an active editor/greenbuster or not.

Are you sure about that? I wouldn't bank on it.
