How do you do that thing where you have an image as background but want a colored text book which show the background image thru' ?
I have PSP loaded and Photoshop on CD if necessary.

Thanks, but not what I meant. I am thinking of the effect seen on some flyers. I can't find a link to show what I mean, but I will try to describe it better.

For example, on a travel brochure, there may be a background image of the destination, and the text is set on a colored panel which, due to its transcluscency (!) shows the image through. A little like looking thru' a piece of opaque colored plastic. I guess it has something to do with layers.

Try right clicking a layer, select properties or blending options (depending on version) and adjust the transparency.

Here's a full tutorial for what you are trying to achieve. It's for photoshop but you can do the same in PaintshopPro so long as you can relate to the tools and terminology.

Yes I did. Kind of. Iadjusted the opacity and got the effect I wanted.
