Loaded almost instantly. Less than 1 second.

A few points
1) don't like the flash animation it's irritating and doesn't add anything to the page.
2) There is an extra empty cell in your header table (on the left) it looks odd.
3) The header is wider than the body, and as both are ranged left it looks like a mistake.
4) Sideways scroll at 1150 x 811 screen res (with sidebar) looks awful at 800 x 600.
5) I would considered centralising the page or using percentages instead of pixels for a fluid layout.

I agree with donkey about the Flash - while I like some Flash things - that doesnt add anything -cutesie and annoying. did you realize that you background color for the homepage header is different from evey other page?

I'm with Donkey (especially on the Flash). Plus at 1024 x 768 (on my laptop) the header w/the band of images below eats up fully half my screen. You really need to go through those images and make sure you optimize them also. They range in size from 4 kb to over 800 kb. A couple of 800 kb images on a page can really slow things down. (check them out on your "official opening" and "our achievement" pages.)

Oh, you need alt text as well.:)

Agree with Donkey comments

In my opinion the web looks and runs fine.
.
Some additional points

1) Do you need all those photos in the heading? They each take time to load and what extra information/aesthetics are they adding to your site?

2) There is a link on the flash animation which goes to an undeveloped page.

3) On the Home page the NVQ link title needs respacing and the same goes for the 'click here' in the navigation area on the other pages.

4) The flash player area on the top left is not wide enough to easily read the rolling banner.

5) Some of the content on pages looks very empty so do you need that page? Could it be combined with other pages until you have something to say. A good example is the Celebrating Success page with links. It looks like you haven't any and the start of the sentence gives you that impression too. Can you use this space and compress the other linked page details to tell your success story. The linked pages seem to show the awards given to each person that has passed through your course even if it doesn't. The Awards ceremonies pictures will only be of interest to the individual persons shown. In marketing terms give visitors a flavour of your success. The site visitors will think that and therefore they have positive thoughts. Currently it seems that you are stretching every success to the absolute limit which is not good.

6) Room Hire page is worded very negatively. It reads that is such a problem to get a room so why should anyone bother. If you want bookings - because I assume you do - tell them to contact someone (email link etc). Give room sizes, max numbers, equipment included or available, other facilities available.

I hope this is what you wanted to hear and doesn't deflate you. My marketing knowledge is free on this forum.

Good one labs, you've taken a serious site and turned it into a fun park...

Kidding, but seriously, who is your target market, and what will visitors to the site be able to do, see or learn? On the opening page alone you have a few photos, one of a very serious looking man, above him a bright yellow banner and to his left, yellow and brown bubbles are going off???

What image does that portray and is that image suitable for your clients?

I also don't know about anyone else, but i'm not a fan of justified text, not anywhere, even if it absolutely has to be in the body, i don't believe it belongs in the side menu. That side menu also jumps on mouseover.

Hi everyone
Thanks for all the comments made. I dont mind you "ripping the site apart" as it all leads to a better site. I will take note of all the comments made and work on each one straight away. Will post again when I get all the changes done

Thanks

Good for you Labs. Stay positive. If it passes the Outfront test it will be a very good site indeed.

Much better, I'd pull the duplicate links out of the left hand menu though. Since you've got them at the top it would reduce the "clutter" a bit.:)

A big improvement visually. Looking forward to seeing the completed site.

I assume that the heading is going to return in due course with what is possibly the corporate colour. If so can you reduce the depth in order to lessen the rather overpowering banner colour.

You're down to about 30% of the available screen, less if I turn off my nav toolbar.:)
