change of plan - 2/3/2005 16:51:45
After too much of a mixed reaction from the sign menu, I've tried a shop front intsead. Not all the links work yet but I would appreciate impressions of this style...

please be honest rather than kind, thanks

Hi Walrus,

Generally i like the site, I'm not too keen on the "Enter" button being inside the "O" of "Forte", but i do understand why you've done it that way, because that is the focal point of the title spinning off once you've clicked it.

I may be alone on this, but i only like animated opening pages when they lead to a static site from then on. I liked the second page also, though it did take a while to load, but if i knew that everypage thereafter was going to be using flash i'd probably not bother with searching that site as a consumer, unless i KNEW there was something inside i needed.

I didn't time the second page loading, but it took about 30 seconds. I looked at the site in IE 6 at 1024 x 768 on a dial-up.

Hi. Liked the site. Got bit confused as what to press when I got to second page. Are the 4 links in each of the shop windows going to lead to only 2 pages permanently. If so I am not keen on that as it is more to do with design than a customer focused site.

For Sale mean just that but the Sold sign means the agents sales pitch. Is that right?

Nicholeoz mentioned timing of the page loading. I am on broadband so it was not a problem. Have you checked the page loading times on dial up?

Hi
I liked the site but i got a bit confused when i entered the site and wanted the open sign to take me somewhere. As Im not a pro designer from a customers point of view when you see the titles for sales or lettings everything becomes clearer and its a nice site to look around,,

Nicole, I have redone the shop front page to speed it up. Could you please tell me if it now loads faster, or is it still too slow.
Thanks

Hi Walrus,

Thats a lot quicker, 7 seconds for the intro and 10 seconds for the shopfront!

I don't belive you need all that animation to sell real estate. Real Estate is just one of those things that should be marketed in a more sedate manner.

When I toured the site, I imagined that it was the actual real estate agent (you?) talking to me through the web site. And the voice I heard was off a fast talking, glitzy shillster. I never got a chance to focus on the task ay hand - the real estate. I was too annoyed by all the "noise".

That's what I thought.

Actually, I agree.

However the client thinks the type of sites you have in mind are "boring".

He who pays the piper.....
