Sid -> Jump Drives (2/3/2005 23:05:34)

I've got to do some serious backing up. I bought a $30.00 jump drive and filled it up quickly. I think it works swift. Is there a way to password protect those in case they are lost or stolen??? Any pro's and con's to using these would be appreciated.
Thanks

Sid,

A concern of mine as well since I move Quicken Small Business files back and forth between three computers.

As far as I know the Jump Drive itself can't be password protected. My solution is to password protect/encrypt files before copying to the Jump Drive.

Actually just bought a new jump drive that has password capabilites from Lexar. Not sure I will use it, but was same price range as others so why not?

some of them do come with encryption capabilities... typically they cost about the same, the only thing you loose is a small amount of storage space...

you could always encrypt the files and upload them to a web server...
