Sorry Labs. Can't get my head round as to why someone would want smaller font. People who have difficulty reading normal font have special systems that are specifically designed to help them. There are very few sites that offer font size choice so it is a bit of over-kill. One of my sons has difficulty reading and writing (fortunately intelligent and got a first class honours degree) but he had his own speaking systems to assist. Writing - well the spell checkers just didn't work. His mum and dad became really good at it. Am I missing the point here with this debate. Ian

No not at all Ian. What I want to do is to create a very userfriendly site for people. I spoke to a guy at the learning difficulties dept and have looked at all the software they have Jaws is a good one, zoom text and supernova. I have been looking into solutions as what to do and he said he will get students to test it for me, to see if it reads well and will test it himself too, as im rebuilding the site its a good time to consider accessibility. hmmmmmmmmm considering what your saying about the smaller font - I think its incase you go too big - not sure

i think the font thing is a nice touch but not necessary, except for IE which can' resize pixels/points. points are for print not for the web. better to use ems or percentages. e.g if you set your body size as 76% (avoids nasty surpries in IE) then everything in relation to that such as td {font-size: 90%;}

Sorry Labs. Got it now. As I don't pay you and the boss does (I hope) his views count. So one it is. Still think this is Learning Disability overkill in big way. Are we going to have to design colour choices in our webs to cater for people with colour blindness. In my experience you give people with learning difficulties what they need on an individual basis to manage their lives themselves. May agree with Dave but I'm in the UK so won't comment. To become even more contentious why don't the pages speak to your visitors. The blind will not see even the largest font. So now you are only catering for people with restricted vision. Sorry about all this Labs but I have been involved in the disability area in the past. Ian

Not upset at all Labs. I am (I think) a naturally polite person and I say sorry when I do not wish to offend you. You know. Stiff upper lip and all that old bean. You have a good site planned out and it would be a pity to over complicate it with various complex add-ons. Ian

Hi Labs. I will let you be the judge of what you need to do to comply as you are an educational body. Those articles will be helpful I am sure to those who build websites for educational bodies in future. Well it seems that you are now ready to complete your site. Good luck. Ian
