www.sisqbluegrass.com

I've been trying lately to make it more accessable for everyone and ended up completely rebuilding the site. I'm SLOWLY learning things as I go. Slowly,,,that's what happens when you're old and broken I guess!:)There's a link to the Golden Old Time Music Festival on there which is another site I'm working on. Anyway, if you could check it out and provide some feedback that would be great. It's a little on the simple side perhaps but I was more worried about functionality. Thank you.

frankly, gene, I think simple is the way to go for someone new. too often we see "first-timers" trying to build complex sites that are beyond their skill level and they get frustrated. yours is nice, simple and functional. good job

Hi Gene,

I'm trying to remember what the old site was like but memory fails apart from I get the feeling this one is better. You need to have a quick look at it in Firefox though as your picture is covering up the first line of the text.

Here's your problem
<div style="position: absolute; top: 221px; left: 315px; width: 254px; height: 193px; z-index: 1">
	<img border="0" src="Sidesaddle.jpg" width="303" height="228" alt="Sidesaddle and Company in concert in Yreka"></div>

You have specified 2 different heights and the div height is smaller than the picture.

Now for the other site. Ummm the pictures are a big problem. They're taking forever to download.

Hi Mean Gene

If you really do need the visitor counter why not move it further up the screen. There is a lot of white space between and it looks a bit lonely all on its own.

On the other pages in the site. When I expanded the Festival Watch page the content did not adjust although the banner at the top and bottom did and it left more space down the right and unbalanced your page.

It's a nice site. Anyway, what's this old and broken bit. I'm aging and my mind beyond repair.

Ian

jaybee....it WAY different than the old site. Not sure what you meant by it not looking right with Firefox...I have that browser installed here and it looks fine. At work I have IE, NN and Firefox and it looked pretty much the same in each. I did change the div height so that it's now greater than the img height...is it better? I'm working on getting a good graphics program so I can rework the top of the page in the Golden site and turn it into one image as opposed to what it is now...would that do the trick?

That's a very good effort Mean Gene.

A couple of things I'd work on in the future:

Improve your content spacing and white spacing. It's too "vast" right now.

Utilize the banner area more effectively. Put a photo up there and blend it in with some other important stuff.

Your photos need work. I'm don't know your expertise in graphic manipulation, but a good understanding of the core basics will help you down the road.

There has to be a better way to display those links. I'm not sure what it is right now, but I got shell shocked when that page opened.

Look forwarf to seeing more stuff from you.

I'll have a good graphics program here in the near future that will make it much better to work with photos. I agree there's things that need to be improved...like the links and whitespace. I will definitly work on that stuff. I thought with this I'd start simple and try and move up from there. Less yelling at the computer that way!:)
