prsguitarman -> HTTP 405 - Resource not allowed - message trying to access ssl on IIS (2/8/2005 3:39:31)

I'm stuck! I have install IIS 5.1 on my XP PRO system. Then I created a StoreFront web site and installed the FrontPage Extensions. I have FP 2003. I can access the web site using the IP address and I can go through all the StoreFront .asp pages all the way until I get to the checkout process. When I click on the checkout button, it is supposed to execute the process_order.asp page, but I instantly get the error:
HTTP 405 - Resource not allowed
Internet Information Services

I have the permissions set in the SSL folder with Read and Write and Delete, and it still won't work. Tried to load MDAC 2.8 and it said it was already part of my OS. What am I missing? I just want to be able to use my IIS as a local host to display the web site while I am developing. Then once I can show how it all works, then get a web host that supports StoreFront.

Thanks!!

Welcome To Outfront

Do have any SSL Certificate software installed locally? Have you tried accessing the pages without the encrypted connection?

Dan

No I do not have a ssl certificate. I'm very new to this, do I need a ssl certificate to just check the .asp functionality locally on my iis? Will I be able to access the .asp pages within the ssl folder without a certificate? I just want to be able to develop locally, show my client what the checkout process would look like. Then if he likes it we will go ahead and get him a real host with all the necessary ssl certificates.

Thanks!
Waldo

You don't need SSL just to test ASP functionality. That installs with IIS.

But if you want SSL, you need a certificate and a good book or website detailing the installation process. It isn't easy; I've done it before. It's more trouble than is worth for a development site, in my opinion.

If you're a developer, you probably have your own site on a real host don't you? Set your client's site up as a subweb and see if your host offers a shared SSL cert. Or just let the client know which pages will be on an SSL connection when the site goes live.
