Excel file messed-up - 2/18/2005 15:56:19
I am in a big trouble and can really need some help!

I have a Excel file(Office 97) on a floppy probably got written over while some one try to burn a music CD. It will not open as "it cannot be accessed. " Is there anyone out there know how to fix the file? Since I have used the file recently, is there anyway I could somehow find a automatic saved copy of it in the computer? (I have Windows XP home edition on Compaq Presario.)

Please help :)

The only way you'll get that back is to go to a data recovery company and they charge a lot of money, or find someone with Norton who can try and extract the data for you but don't hold your breath. Sounds like the floppy is corrupt.

Never rely on a single copy on a floppy. I've thrown away hundreds of them. They just give up the ghost when you need them most.

This is probably not going to help but if you're desperate.....
It deals with corrupt files rather than corrupt disks.
