help please- page does not fit - 2/22/2005 8:13:49
Hello,

I have a website : http://www.howtotellagreatstory.com

I know it takes long to load so please be patient when you go there.

However, I need a specific kind of help - you will note that the entire page does not fit onto your screen - you will have to move to the right to view the whole sentence.

How do I overcome this problem and make sure that one does not have to move to the right to read a sentence?

I appreciate any help rendered.

thanks

Seems to fit fine on my screen (1024 x 768) and resizes down OK too. What I'd be more concerned about is having to scroll down a bagillion pages.:):)

I looked at it again at 800 x 600 and in Firefox it seems to resize properly. In IE however the resize results in a slight side to side scroll. I'm not quite sure what's causing it but I'd guess it might be those wide push buttons you have for emailing a link.

Since it is so close to fitting perfectly, you may consider resizing your table to be 590 instead of 600 (if it is 600...just an assumption)...I've heard of people's sites scrolling even though it shouldn't. This could fix it possibly.

As for the scrolling down portion. You could redo your navigation to have the main page be some sort of intro...then, have your links on the top and bottom like you currently do, however, add more of them. Suggestion for one link could be "5 boring mistakes", "jobs", "classes", etc...

The bottom table doesn't seem to flow with the upper table that holds all of the information (borders wise).

The site seemed to load pretty quick for me...although the popup annoys me.

The overall lookout of the site is awesome, I think...I love the logo :)

Could possibly play around with some background colors? Not sure, but could be worth a shot...overall, I say its really nice :)

Have you fixed it? I get no sideways scroll in IE or FF.
If not you could try reducing the table that's set at 100% width to 96%.

IMHO the comments above about the "one long page" don't go far enough. You could divide that up into about ten pages with links and navigation. Long pages are a real turn off; people get bored when they have to scroll but they love to click on links. A small vertical scroll is OK but generally you should present the information in small easily digestible chunks. As it is, it may be a good story but nobody's ever going to read the ending.

I agree it's a nice site design, but there is no logo, just wording and a picture?
