webkitty -> web hosts: *NIX vs. WIN (4/19/2001 19:32:00)

A little more content written and polished, and hubby and I are ready to publish his website (providing basic and intermediate computer help in plain English). We've registerd our domain, and now we need to find a host. I'm using FrontPage, so I know the need for FrontPage extensions. Is there any performance advantage to running to a Win based system rather than a *NIX system? Anyone care to make a make a host recommendation?

Thanks again!

Cindy

Try www.WebUnited.net, www.Nextmill.net or www.addr.com

I have used all three and never had a problem.

As far as performance goes, you shouldnt have a major problem either way.
Unix tends to have more default options for modifying permissions and NT allows you to easily use databases.
Funtionally there are no major differences most users will find.
