.htaccess real simple one here - 2/24/2005 15:17:23
Hello all
On my web site I have been getting an authentication problem. It manifests as a User Authorization login screen popping up randomly at different places on the web site. I have locked horns, well soft furry ones, with my ISP as it seems to be something on the server side that is changing in the .htaccess file. I say this because the login screen will just appear for no reason on my asp pages, then randonly appear at different places on the web site.
The ISP says it is my set up, I have not turnned on any security except for particular page logins. I thought someone had hacked my site trying to pick up passwords. I've never editied a .htaccess file, let alone seen one.
Any help or guidance would be helpful
Oh, sometimes it seems to occur, this random login screen, after I publish a new page to the web site

It certainly sounds like a permissions problem - perhaps they could point out exactly what they think the htaccess file is doing?

Hello, Thanks for getting back to me...... :) this is part of their tech support reply
The issue is with the way your website's authentication is set up within FrontPage. The issue was reported as an authentication issue within the .htaccess files on your website which can only be corrected from within the FrontPage application itself. Short of republishing the website to have the .htaccess files and all other authentication code reset to the way it should be, I do not know of any other solutions Blar Blar Blar
I have no idea on this one,. or how toi go about correcting the issue.
I've done some searches on previous posts on htaccess, but they were not really addessing this issue. I guess I wondered if other people had experienced this problem as well.
