Viewing FP web on Mac Fonts are ruined!! - 4/21/2001 13:51:00
I just acquired a mac G4 at work and thought I would check out some of my sites using it. The Mac uses IE 5.0 for Macs and my fonts are all bitmapped. The looked TERRIBLE! I went to one of my sites remotely and highlighted the page, I then went from default font (which was Times New Roman) to actually selecting Times New Roman from the drop down menu and saved the page. Now they look fine. What is the deal with using the (default font) choice from the drop down when it comes to the Macs??????

When you use the 'default' font in FP you are not applying TNR, even if this is your defualt, what you are doing is allowing all users to see the site using their own default. Were I to look at your site with my PC I would see it in Ariel, which is my default.

Many people would say that this is good thing - though most specify a font.

One thing about TNR is that though it is an easy font to read in printed material it is not the easiest on the eye on a screen. There is quite a lot of research to suggest that on screen an san serif font - such as Ariel or Verdana, or in the case of Mac users, Helvetica, is preferable.

There is an article here that may help: http://www.wpdfd.com/wpdtypo5.htm
