Bye Bye Google listing - 2/26/2005 13:20:52
Hi, After enjoying a page 1 listing in Google for 1 1/2 years, it appears my site has become a victim of their most recent algo change. It just disappeared. But here's the odd part: references to my site still appear on Google pages 1 & 2 because of sites that link back to my site....some of which are using the exact same text as contained in my currently lost site. A quick search of Yahoo and MSN reveals that my site is still listed on page 1 where often, the page results are in the millions...in other words a more competitive environment. That never happened with Google. So, considering the Google situation as described above, can someone shed some light on why my site disappeared but the remnants still remain?? Thanks! breddie _____________________________________________ If you try to fail and succeed, which have you done?.....unknown _____________________________________________

Hello Summer, Am constantly updating...a little here, a little there, just added an RSS feed....try to stay away from 'bad neighborhoods'...in short, try to play by the 'rules' as dictated by the SE gods on mount Olympus. breddie

Want to PM me or post the link? One of my sites lost major ranking in the middle of sales season, and it was due to someone joining my affiliate program, duplicating/copying my home page and putting up a redirect to my site.

Breddie, I have sufffered the same thing. When the algo changed, my site essentially disappeared. I am now buried so deep in Google that no one will find me. I still show up strong on Yahoo and MSN, but they only represent 15% of my business. I am now trying to improve the site to make it more in line with what Google is looking for (???). This stinks. Best of luck to you. Tad

Summer...forgive my ignorance but I don't understand the meaning of "PM me". Also, if you are asking for my site URL here it is: http://www.channel1records.com I don't think there's anything on my Resources page that would cause a problem but who knows?...a few crazies have hit my site in the past. I agree with Tad in the previous post...this stinks. It would certainly help if Google would give a reason for moving sites into oblivion...then perhaps, webmasters could identify the cause of removal and take remedial action. But according to what I hear from other webmasters, that just isn't going to happen. Thanks for your input...it helps. breddie

Summer...forgot to mention that Google crawls my site every other day. Rather odd for a site that no longer can be found. breddie

Summer... Would a mouseover like this work for hyperlink tag titles? Source code: <a href="your_page.htm" title="your link text description here"> The above would be very similar to an image alt tag.

<a href="your_page.htm" title="your link text description here"> - Yes, this will work.. That is just a little bit of what you would need to do if you plan to stay with the game.
