Publishing with FP 2002 to Win 2003 Breaks Email Forms - 3/2/2005 10:07:16
We are using Frontpage 2003 (Office 11) to publish to a Windows 2003 Server. When we publish it breaks email forms. We can fix the problem by running a fix on "tighten security". We definitely do not want to have to run "tighten security" every time we publish. Any ideas? Thanks!

James Welcome to Outfront I've tried running through the process of publishing an email form to Win2k3 server, and I can't replicate the situation, coould you provide the exact steps you go through to publish the form? Could you provide a URL so we can see the "damage" done? Thanks Dan

Hey Dan, How we publish: 1) File... Publish Site 2) Remote Site Location (where I publish to) www.starkstate.edu. 3) Prompts me for USER NAME and PASSWORD. 4) I then either publish the entire site or just select pages at a time. The problem still occurs with both. The Form: http://www.starkstate.edu/test_form.htm One other interesting detail that I forgot to mention...you get a FrontPage Error when you submit the form that says "please see the server's application event log for more details". However, there are no new entries in the Event Log. Thanks for your help! James

Re-install the extensions on the site, and then try, if that doesn't work, then it may be a fault with FP itself

We re-installed server extensions and it's still displaying the same symptoms. Do you know exactly what running a tighten security does that we might get some insight into why this fixes the problem? Also, is there a way to configure the event log level? It says to check our event log, but there are no messages pertaining to the problem. Cheers, James

Hey Dan, I'm checking the event log on the web server - where the server extensions reside. I think since it happens at execution time, as opposed to publish time, it's probably on there. Do you know which files are involved when if fails on the form submit? Is there a frontpage component dll that I could check permissions on? Thanks, James
