I thought it had to do something with the text string of null...I think we were on the righ track :)

what does the trim do? I see rdouglas use that a lot also...never understood it.

It removes any white space.

eg - if you put a space in the text box and submitted, you would get an error

ahh...I'll have to use that on this update page. I generally use drop downs to avoid any error the user may make...and, we all know they make a ton! It took me a while to learn that, even though I said "military time" next to the input box, and, placed a hyperlink so they could figure out the conversion...well, lets just say that I received many 2:30 pm answers :)

now, they have two dropdowns...damn users!
