Momski -> "Edit button" on IE malfunctioning (3/2/2005 14:54:34)

I am usually able to edit my website by bringing up the page I want to edit in my Internet Explorer browser and then clicking the Edit button (Edit with FrontPage).

Then it prompts me for a password, - I enter and voila! FrontPage loads and I'm able to save right to our server.

Something happened - my IE Edit button doesn't give me the option to edit in FrontPage.

Any ideas? Should I re-install IE? Should I re-install FrontPage?

When I update from a different location, the button works just fine.

try tools/internet options to see if fp is the default html editor

Did that the first time. Didn't work.

Cleaned out internet cache, too.

Still trying to avoid uninstalling/reinstalling:

I'm using IE version 6, my FrontPage is 2003.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a re-install. Couldn't find anything other than what you've already done.

Have you cleared all your temp files from within IE?

Before you do that:

I assumed that's what she meant. The only other thing that sometimes affects it is if notepad is on the desktop. Don't ask me why. I have no idea but if the cache/tmp clear out doesn't work then try the notepad thing.

Wasnt sure if that was FP or IE either ;-)

Are you able to go file > edit with Frontpage or file > open (as web folder) ?
