Converting pdf files to Word or .rtf - 3/3/2005 9:22:47
There is an appication that converts pdf documents back to text files Solid convertor I tried the demo to convert a pdf that I had received, but because it was a scanned image it didn't work, but it does on unscanned pdfs. I only wanted to do that one page, but as the (free) demo will only do 10% of the orginal pages I added about 20 more pages to the first. You would need pdf creation software to do that though. The application costs around $50, but it could be a lifesaver when needed. Cheers Carol

Thankyou labs, but I have Acrobat 6 and the file in question was a scanned image into pdf. The text is all in the image which has been scanned in skewed. I have religned the image is PSP, but have been on the lookout for something that will deal with text as an image. I could use my OCR software, but it is not worth the effort of loading it. This stuff may help others though. Cheers Carol

i thought that's what OCR did - deal with text as an image ;)

Yes it does, but I don't have time to go through all the recognition palaver for a document that could be obsolete next week.

what i mean is i don't see how you could do it other than using OCR in some form or another - whatever software might be able to do the job, that's going to be how it does it. :)
