mzoricak -> Problem with Outlook 2003 (3/4/2005 13:15:52)

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum but hopefully someone will be able to help me. My PC was working just fine until 2 days ago. (nothing changed-I just shut down at night, then the next morning it started). I went to open Outlook and got an 'out of virtual memory' message. Mind you, nothing else was open and all other applications in Office 2003 work just fine with no errors. I increased the size of the virtual memory to 500-1000, still same error. Outlook won't even open. Could this be server related? No one else seems to have the problem though and we are all connected to the Exchange server. I have to get my company e-mail on another PC now until this is fixed. We're running Windows 2000, and I have 256M of RAM. I don't know what else to do. Could a virus do something to virtual memory? I did a virus scan, but nothing was found. Got rid of all the spyware too.

Thanks very much.

Marianne

Hi and Welcome to Outfront.

Do you have all your mail stored in your Exchange mailbox or is it downloaded to local personal folders?

If all on Exchange Server, I'd suggest deleting the email account/profile, reboot, and add it back in. Many times those are issues in the profile data file and not in Outlook itself.

I manage an Exchange server myself.

Hope it helps.

I t hink I got it! I freed up more space and increased VM, deleted the profile, rebooted and recreated the profile. Got an error message that Outlook needed to be started in safe mode and to do detect and repair. Did that and now I'm in business! It works.
THANK YOU!!!
