Hyphens in domain name - yes or no? - 3/5/2005 22:07:26
I always thought that hyphens in the domain name could make it tough on those who type in the URL. I see the benefit in them once you get past the homepage, but otherwise it's just too confusing. Are there any good reasons why one might want to use a hyphen in a domain name?

I believe you'll find the answer in the conversation between Mr Parsons & Reflect & Donkey here:

The ability to incorporate keyword phrases in the page URL. Say you have a page about remote control cars. The URL would be www.mysite.com/remote-control-cars. This just adds another layer of support for the theme of the page. I though Google liked that. If you title the page www.mysite.com/remotecontrolcars, then Google won't recognize the individual keywords (or will it?).
