Solved--needed: form fix/hack for Opera - 3/8/2005 0:46:08
Hi all,

I've been busy searching high and low, tearing other sites apart with FF, looking for/or how to get forms in Opera to match cosmetically with other browsers.

Colors, borders and width are almost identical, but Opera will not reduce in overall size of height, it just stays default, any help with this, please.

Wooooops.. forgot the 1st rule of thumb, post a url. :)I'll clean up the current mess, and posted it tommarrow.

Thankz in Advanze,
Grizz :)

Hi LazyKatz,
Not sure if this will help you or not, but HERE is a link for you to check out.

Also, there are hacks that are called be nice to opera, you might wish to search those terms to see if anything comes up in that area for you.

Thanks Deb..

Sorry for the looooong delay for responding, been working 18hr days and haven't had much time to do anything.

I went to link above, I know how to set boarders, colors..etc, I am trying to reduce the actual size of the forms input field, button..etc. Opera forms are much bigger than other browsers. I know it can be done somehow, other sites have done it, I've looked at css and page sources until I was blue in the face..lol

went searching for them, nothing found here in forum or google, as of yet.

I caught up on a little sleep today, I opened editor only to find I forgot to save my work from last night...grrrrrr, so I'm trying to put it all back together and post it.

I will be posting a new thread soon that will have several other issues needing a tweak and I'll include this if I haven't got it fixed. Most of them are for Ex-plorer and Opera, everything is identical in the rest.

Thankz again,
Grizz :)

HI Grizz,
Even though you are working 18 hr days, be thankful you have a job, and that you can work :)

HERE Is a link to a google search for you that has the hacks in it. A search on the be nice to opera hack brought them up. Go through the links, there is one i believe by tanick that is for opera.

Good luck, and sorry to hear about your misfortune in saving! Not good when that happens. I had tried crimson editor for my forum editing, heard that it was a great editor, however, it saved my phpbb file, blank! thankfully i had backed it up, wheww. lol. Take care and get some rest.

Hi Deb,

Thanks for the link.. looked threw some of them, will do more of them.

I did find a link somewhere, might of been here, eric meyers, don't know anymore were I've been..lol

It gave me some help, like it a little, only thing is I can get it all looking pretty good in all accept Ex-plorer. Go figure..lol http://www.picment.com/articles/css/funwithforms/

I have Crimson editior, use it frequently, I use html-kit the most, it has plugins for everything, php, css, xml, mysql, forms,..etc..etc. http://www.chami.com/html-kit/

I didn't lose much in the not saved inccident, but I sure didn't lose any sleep over it..hehe Still pecking away.. happy with most.. looking for a few fixes for minor alterations..only because I see a div off by 1px in some browsers.. don't get me wrong, if someone does'nt open site in multiple browsers.. they wouldn't know....hehe

I'll probably post tommarrow sometime with an updated version of http://fpwm.lazykatz.com/blue/new_page3a.htm for review by the masters and critics.

Thanks Again,
Grizz :)

This issue was resolved, by using images, padding, and sizing to the large form dementions of Opera. Of coarse I then needed to redo entire page over again. :)
