If her goal was to draw the passionate ire of die-hard FF fans, generating many responses to her "article" and driving big traffic to her employer's website (who have bills to pay via sponsorship money), I'd say she was a smashing success. :)

Honestly I hope it is... though I doubt it will be.

That would be an awfully tall order. And more importantly, FF has awaken a lot of people to the open source movement, what it means, what it's potential is, etc...
That's a dent in Microsoft's dominance that a patched up IE can't possibly repair.

It's gonna take some effort... but that's all we can ask for, right?

Sooner or later IE should have a secure browser.:)

Maybe this will be the one.

I'm convinced of this 1 fact:

Browsers will NEVER be totally secure simply because we want them to do more than display monospaced font text on our screens.

"Secure" will always be a relative term...

I used FF for the past few months. About a week ago I finally made the leap to broadband and so can now download large files, like browsers in a few seconds instead of leaving the download running over night. Anyway, yesterday I got curious and downloaded Opera. So far, I absolutely love it. I like FF too, but it is not supported by my bank's website and causes occassional problems. I also didn't like how the back button would break when visiting here at OutFront. So, at least for the next little while, I am an Opera user.

Duane, I was an Opera user before FF. Switched a few months ago. I liked Opera a lot too, but it crashed too many times(once or twice a week) on me, for whatever reasons, so switched to FF. My different financial sites didn't seem to like Opera, but appear to play nicely with FF. One of the sites I maintain though, refuses to work nicely in either FF or Opera, so I have to keep IE around. (Yes, I'm slowly working on it. But it's gonna take a heck of a lot of converting and headaches)

Opera is pretty, but I never quite got used to it...

Firefox took me a lot of getting used to. But it was worth it in the end.
