I need to do a background for a div, not a very large div, just a header size. what I need is for the header background to increase as the page increases and decrease as the page is resized.
Also, how do you get the tiles to become seamless? I have searched, but the directions that I get seem complicated.
And in the div, will be 4 photos centered in this. Any suggestions?

To be seamless, you need to have a pic that will sit next to the other one with looking like there are two pics sat next to each other and use repeat.
It depends on your background image but what I tend to do just for a gradient is have a long thin gif or a wide shallow say 400x1 pixel or 1x250 pixels they then cover the entire background when I specify horizontal or vertical repeat but you can only really do gradients or solids with that method.
If you search the web there are some sites offering seamless background gifs. You may even find one you like.
If your image doesn't distort too much you can also set the sizes to 100% but it doesn't work well with photos
Thanks Jaybee, I did get it to work out really good. I have the tiled gif and it looks pretty good. I have added the pictures to this. Now am working on other things with it http://csstest2.debsplace.org/test.html
