yureeka -> Question regarding drop down menus (3/15/2005 15:34:41)

Hi everyone,

Try to bear with me, Im a true newb. I was wondering if there was a way to make drop down menus, more specifically, like the ones on adobe's front page. ( http://www.adobe.com ). I was wondering if this was possible to do on Microsoft Frontpage 2003 without using html code. Any sort of assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The menu on Adobe's site is an example of a DHTML menu. These are menus that manipulate html objects through javascript, and so are typically pretty heavily scripted. This particular menu appears to have been generated with an Adobe product; accordig to the comment at the top of navMenu.js, it was
quote:

/* Generated from adobe_nav.xsl. Do not edit this file directly. */

Not sure what the product is.

I don't know if FP offers any sort of similar functionality. If it does, I haven't seen it. I think it's safe to say that you wouldn't be able to make such a menu without doing at least some scripting. You can find various tools at low or no cost to help you create such menus (Google for DHTML Menus and see what you can find). Some require more scripting than others. I use Milonic Menus and have been a fan of that system for a long time.

Hope that helps,

Kevin

I use this DHTML menu builder

http://software.xfx.net/index.html

appears to be a similar price to the millonic one.
