How old is your best site? And, if you share that type of info, what is the approximate monthly traffic?

My best Adsense site is 2 years old. Traffic is low at 6000 uniques per month - but it is good quality.

Does something like this apply to a site like mine which sells nothing, but simply provides information?

If your looking for link partners - yes. Another option would be to build a second site where you sell the products > find partners > funnel traffic from your Adsense site into the eCom site. It wouldn't have to eat into your Adsense profit too much.

Good for you! But man alive, you must get some real hefty amount per click! Not asking for specifics, of course, as I realize it's against the terms.

Thanks again for the significant time you spent preparing replies. It is very much appreciated, and the info is interesting and useful. You sure know your stuff!

This makes a lot of sense. But a question: what about folks like me who are not selling products, but provide information. As far as I know, there are only two sources of income for us:

- Advertising - programs such as AdSense and display ads
- Affiliate programs

Over the past four years (the first two I did not have 'ads') I've used affiliate programs to make a little money. Recently I added adsense.

My sites (except for my art site) are all about information about FrontPage) I run newsletters, lists and the sites and even a couple of blogs (recently). What I've just launched is a couple of ebooks, one about FrontPage tips which sells very cheaply and a free ebook about an orginal article of mine here on OutFront (thanks Tom), which I made for Cheryl Wise a Microsoft MVP - FrontPage who just started FrontPage Classes from a new site. Making parnerships of different sorts is also something I've always done. I love FrontPage addons and talk to as many Addon Makers as I can. I guess all this can be applied to other subjects. I'd not widely successful in the money I make it's really just 'pin' money, but after all this is my hobby and I am a housewife:)

Running a blog, making ebooks, even answering questions in your subject matter, running a list and newsletters and ezines as well as your site can all add to the mix. It really depends on how much time you want to invest, the end results depend on how well you market what you do. This help any?

Tina

How much $ do you normally get these things for, if you don't mind me asking ?  Assuming page rank of 2 and no "business revenue" for the site (ie:  doesn't sell a product or service, only makes $ from ad revenue if at all)

Also, just curious, about how much traffic does a site have to have to get to a PR2 level ?

If we assume it has unique content, at least 10 pages, low traffic, zero revenue - a PR 2 site would sell between $50 and $140. With most sales being under $80.  A few months ago it would have only brought $30 to $60 depending on the category. Today, the market has changed somewhat.
