tried severla times recently to update windows through the update homepage - sites are set in trusted site list and nothing has changed since i last updated. win xp sp2
i get this message

Well, it works fine here, and I just changed Firewall....

Try disabling all firewalls - if that don't work, it's M$, not you

You don't even get that error with dodgy copies of Windoze...been there, done that[&:]

You are using a propa copy aren't ya?[;)]

yep. been updating for the last few months fine (installed sp2 ages ago)

tried using this to resolve it

but no joy :(

UPDATE *************
ah ha! now it works - had to register this regsvr32 MSXML3.dll
( RUN > regsvr32 MSXML3.dll )
