Flash text and search engines... - 5/5/2001 20:51:00
I have a home page where the majority of text is inside a flash movie. How do search engines handle text in flash? Would it be better just to go with plain text? It would look very bland without the flash in my opinion. But i do notice in the fla file there is a <!-- text used in the movie--> line in the html.

Need some advice...
Thanks.

They don't - search engines do not "see" flash. Or any other graphics.

Does the flash thing matter?

If you have meta tags - description and keywords, the search engine will be able to index something.

Except that a growing number of search engines do NOT read meta tags anymore.

My experience with search engines is this:
the more content the higher the ranking. So i guess if the client wants the flash then they run the risk of not ranking as high.

My opinion.
