How to facilitate Search Engine listing - 3/30/2005 12:42:47
I am about to launch my new website. One question that I have relates to how search engines identify my site, what I need to place in my site for keywords, and should I use something like Axandra's IB4 to register with web-sites? Any help on this issue or a reference to where it has already been addressed would be appreciated. My thought is that merely linking to several other sites may not help to build up traffic fast. I will be offering accessories for a specific hobby-interest market. Dave.

specific hobby-interest market that is the key dave. sounds like you wont have a lot of competition. make sure that the body of your page(s) have plenty of descriptive text describing your products/services. identify the most significant 20 words or phrases and use them in each page and in meta keywords and meta content - then be patient. you will get picked up. also, having sites link TO you is more useful than you linking to them.

Obtain links from niche directories. Do enough of these and the traffic WILL add up. Also a nice jump start, if you have an advertising budget, is PPC. Bid on low money words that are highly targeted to your niche. Another thought is to buy some text based ads on another site that fits in your genre. Of course links form other sites that are already listed is a nice jump start. Just a few thoughts. Take care, Brian
