taxes for US residence - 4/4/2005 15:10:57
Hi if my head office is in Missouri, and i sell products to all US states, how would the taxes work on the product? does everyone pay Missouri tax only? or are the taxes state specific dependin where the person was located who purchased the product? any insight would be appreciated.. thanks

My understanding, just from shopping on the Internet myself, is that if the seller has a B&M in the state the buyer is in then taxes are collected by the seller. Otherwise, if the buyer is in another state, then the buyer is "supposed" pay the taxes on there own when they file annually(I'm not actually aware of anyone who does this, but I'm sure there are some) or quarterly with the IRS. The seller collects, and pays no taxes. Searching on "Internet Sales Tax" will get you quite a bit of info too.
