Very buggy. I un-installed my copy and went back to fp2000 until some updates come out.

I've been using it since it came out and although I'm still a big fan of FP2000, I dont think its that bad. Cant really tell that too much has changed.....What about everyone else? ------------------ Montine Webmaster @ Hy-Technology What would we do without conflict?

Has a few bugs, but corrects some others.I like it. One of the big pluses is the pseudo-ftp functionality incorporated into the publish feature. Also, I like having all the separate windows in tabs instead of having to go to the "Window" menu to switch between open pages.

I'm using FP2002 every day on webs that were created first in FP2000. All seems to be well but I'm not a guru user by any stretch. If you'd care to take a look at http://www.50plus-feeling30.com/Current_Affairs.htm and the rest of that web you'll see what I'm doing. I have had to re-instal once becuase FP2002 apparently lost it's ability to display images and nav bar contents whilst editing in Normal View and Preview. A bit scary, but the Windows 98 Personal Server files I was using were OK. I pay for expert phone assistance from a Microsoft/ICL support centre here in the UK; and, whilst they helped me to recover, they had never seen the problem or heard of it. Since the recovery yesterday no problems, and several changes and uploads since. Generally I'd say that FP2002 is in good shape, and I'd recommend using it.

I haven't had any problems that were FP2002 specific. Everyone's is saying buggy - but not what's bugging them... Marr

I haven't had too many troubles with FP2002 so far, except the autothumbnail feature quit working- that turned out to be J-Bots 2002's fault though (reinstall or get updated .dll from WebsUnlimited, by the way). That's really been the only issue I've come across- I think it's a good update to FP2k.------------------ Scott ------------- www.burnspot.com- Personal Site www.burnspot.net- Family Genealogy

I participated in the Beta, removed it, and upgraded to the released version about 3 weeks ago. The differences are minor, mostly refinements, and seem to be improvements with one exception -- I don't like the new way to add scheduled pictures (I use it for the "NEW" pics). The new publishing feature alone is probably worth the upgrade if you have a large site -- it shows you which pages have changed and you can drag and drop and publish those individual pages if you'd like. You can "ftp" files each direction in the window also, which is nice. The tabs in the Page view are a big plus too... Most of Microsoft's effort appears to have been spent on integrating SharePoint services and in providing more site management reports, stats, etc. Since my host provides all that, it's of no value to me, but it could be helpful for small personal sites on free servers. I'm not experiencing the bugs that others refer to -- knock on wood -- what specific problems are they having? ------------------ T. I'll tell you what's buggy. If you have a subdirectory that has subdirectories under it marked as a subweb so FrontPage shouldn't touch it, it will still delete all files in the subdirectories under the subweb, leaving only the files in the root subdirectory/subweb. Kind of a pain in the ass if you have some extensive CGI scripts on your site if you know what I mean.

Thought I'd help pile it on... it's buggy! I don't like it as much as FP2k. I've only installed it on 2 of the 4 computers that I develop with so I'm not sweating it. I can always fall back on FP2k to get things done.Dave "and the guitar players look damaged, they've been outcasts all their lives"

Wacnstac, I have "nested" subwebs also (ROOT >> SUBWEB>> SUBWEB) and am having NO problems with it overwriting or deleting files that it should not... Have you used FP2002 to set or change file permissions, by chance? These FP permissions are NOT the "real NT" file persmissions, and changing/setting them in FP can mess things up... But it also did it in FP2000. Kent ------------------ T. Kent Thomas Webmaster & Honorary Clubhouse Janitor Simplicity & Allis-Chalmers Garden Tractor Club http://www.simpletractors.com

Hi from Berlin,I've installed and uninstalled 2002 a zillion times so far. At least that works great. I've now got both 2000 and 2002 on my machine, which MS says is possible. Both work, ... sort of. My problem with 2002 is that both "Recent Files" and "Recent Webs" are greyed out (though they work in the NEW "Safe Mode" - has anybody noticed it? Hold down Ctrl when you start the program). I've been in touch with MS here in Germany - who've given me several tips - but nothing has worked. The problem with having both on the machine is that after you've customized the toolbars on one, as soon as you open the other, the customizations are gone. I also noticed that - even though my ISP has FP 2000 extensions on the server - uploading with 2002 more than once a day created some type of problem with the "index.htm" file. If anybody'd like to see one of my sites, please look at http://go.to/english4biotech. Best regards,

I just purchased FP 2002. I am working on a web site for Feeding Children International. I was really frustrated trying to make it work and make changes. Even my web server tech lines were telling me how it wasn't any good for developing web sites...only fixing minor things. It took me awhile, but I finally got a handle on it. I edited all photos, and made the banner, streamed the video, made the forms, and designed the web and made the animations. See the web and let me know what you think... http://www.feedingchildren.com e-mail webmaster@feedingchildren.com thanks.

I think that you would be better off (you would get more responses) if you made this same post in the "Site Critiques" message board. Since I'm not a moderator or anything though I can't do it myself, sorry! ------------------ Smiles, Ed Mazur racquetballx.com [This message has been edited by Ed Mazur (edited 08-08-2001).]
