Comfirmation page with only one result - 5/15/2001 20:41:00
I am struggling with creating a very simple means for a client to update an events page which changes weekly. He is totally computer illiterate so it has to be beyond simple.

I think I could just about get him to fill in a form whose results are saved to a html page. Is ther a way of having only the most recent submission appear on the page?

I could use a cgi script fot this but do not want the hassle if there is a way to do this.

Hi Katherine

Mmm...no way to do that AFAIK with just FP forms.....
Maybe the FP Guestbook BOT can be "hacked" to do that??

(I never use it so this is just a wild guess!)

Katherine...

I'm running a diary ASP script with a piss-easy Access database on my personal site. You can have that code if you like.

At the moment I'm having to enter <p> to make paragraph breaks, but I reckon Vince could fix that up for ya in no time.

Enter headline in one box, text in another, press send, and you're off.

Click the "Diary" link. Let me know if you want this.

A real easy way to do this is to let him enter records into the database and on the page that displays the result limit it to 1 record and sort by date. (Using DRW)

An example of this would be a site I am working on. ( )www.boyerassoc.com/v4 The "What's New" section on the main page I have linited the results to the most current 3. If you Goto the "Press Room" you will see that all of the records are available there.

Let me know if this would help and I will offer any assistance I can. I can even do a Netmeeting with you to discuss.

Let me know,
Kevin

Thanks people - I am not on an NT server so no database or ASP.

Anyway I got unlazy (if that is a word) and used a cgi script.

I for one am interested in learning more about this technique. I have a similar situation but with the added requirement;
When a member uploads a word doc, it keeps all of its original formatting. Any thoughts?
Thanks
Dave

Yikes Good luck! And please let me kow if you ever find a way to do something like that.......
PDF's is the only thing I can think of that will keep formatting intact unless of course you just mean that other people will be downloading the Word docs again....?
