c1sissy -> css rounded box generator (4/23/2005 8:08:31)

http://www.neuroticweb.com/recursos/css-rounded-box/
This gives you the gifs that you need for the corners as well as the code for the css and the divs, you can change the color as well on the page to get the color that you wish for the box to be.

Just an interesting little thing I found this morning

jaybee -> RE: css rounded box generator (4/23/2005 14:01:26)

Thanks for that.

Do you think anyone might be interested in my new layout where every time you hover over the 3rd nav link, the entire menu shoots off to the left? [:@]

Bet no one else has one like it.

c1sissy -> RE: css rounded box generator (4/24/2005 9:27:04)

send me the link, I have one where all the links do it, but I did it on purpose as a decortive thingie. I liked how it worked out.

Can you post the link. or some of the code? Are you using pixels to size it? IF so, try ems. seriously. It might make a difference

jaybee -> RE: css rounded box generator (4/24/2005 10:03:18)

Can't post anything, still in early development. I've fixed it now but don't ask me how, I have no idea. It's quite a complicated layout for css, divs all over the place and nested three or four deep. I think it must have been something to do with some padding problems in one of them.

Tip of the week.

Don't canibalise a previous css layout for the next site. Start from scratch and you won't miss that all important 3px padding that sends the entire layout bonkers.

c1sissy -> RE: css rounded box generator (4/24/2005 10:31:13)

heh, just for future reference, check out pie's site for bugs. I just spent a week trying to figure out why I had a 3pixel indent on a list item, turned out to be a bug. and I didn't think it was the one I suspected because it was a list item! It was triggered by the nav on the left of it floating. Added the holly hack to it, and viola, the indentaion on the list is gone and IE is behaving so nicely now.

[:D][8D]

jaybee -> RE: css rounded box generator (4/24/2005 13:00:33)

I'm afraid I'm one of the sad people who'll spend hours tweaking layouts rather than apply hacks.

There's always a way round it. Usually a small design change does it.

So far, I don't think I have a single hack for IE in any of my sites. [sm=boogie.gif]

c1sissy -> RE: css rounded box generator (4/25/2005 8:49:48)

lol, I don't mind the hacks, and its good to know them in case you have to help someone with something that comes up in a question. Just shows me that there is so much to still learn, Plus I really didn't feel like spending more time on this one layout that I did, and spend another week trying to figure out what was going on with it. I dream of IE getting things right one day. But I also dream of hitting the lottery for a million [image]http://www.frontpagewebmaster.com/image/s3.gif[/image]

jaybee -> RE: css rounded box generator (4/25/2005 9:51:55)

Well I managed to sort it. The page is currently here

It's posted in Critiques as well. (yes I know there aren't any h1 etc. It's only a template for the client to tweak.)

c1sissy -> RE: css rounded box generator (4/25/2005 12:26:45)

wow its beautiful jaybee.

I wonder if I will ever get to that point.[image]http://www.frontpagewebmaster.com/image/s14.gif[/image]

jaybee -> RE: css rounded box generator (4/25/2005 13:42:27)

Course you will. I bet you won't spend hours chasing the menu round the page as well. [:D]

bobby -> RE: css rounded box generator (4/29/2005 14:02:16)

Now that's one useful tool!

Even has the corner graphics for you!!!!

This is the best thing since I read that CSS3 will have native support for corner styles... especially since CSS3 likely won't show up with browser support until '08

c1sissy -> RE: css rounded box generator (4/29/2005 14:13:41)

Actually bobby, you can use the css3 one now, I have seen a few pages using it through different mentions of it, and believe it or not, it worked in IE.[sm=yikes.gif]

Have fun with it. I also liked the way that it gave the css file for you as well as the graphics. Made things a whole lot easier for even newbies to css and graphics to try this thing out.

jaybee -> RE: css rounded box generator (4/29/2005 14:36:54)

css3

take a look at this one. Click the navs at the bottom

http://virtuelvis.com/gallery/css3/target/interface.html#recycle

Debs have you seen whether 3 supports center for divs rather than having to faff around with margins?

c1sissy -> RE: css rounded box generator (4/29/2005 14:50:12)

Not yet, but all you need to do is try it out and see what it does in the different browsers. Just be aware that these aren't cemented into the specs. They are just in the trial stages and doesn't mean when the specs do come out that this stuff will be included. Though I can't forsee anything as cool as the rounded corners being left out to pasture.

[:D]Someone appears to be drooling over css3 almost as much as BigJohn is [;)]

I have the 3 draft bookmarked somewhere want the link, or do you have it? roflol.

I'm trying to collect tons of things to create on one giant page on my site. I have a folder on my desktop now, I come across something and I put it into my folder. Instead of bookmarking it, lol. Then I'm going to go all through those bookmarks and put them into it, and start to create a massive links to css on my site. I'm thinking about the layout as I stroll around looking at things.

Yes, some good stuff with all the new tags and pseudos but..........

Not one of them works in IE6! and surprisingly, very few in Opera 7.54.

c1sissy -> RE: css rounded box generator (4/30/2005 10:22:56)

The rounded corners did, I just can't seem to find the link to the page that I had viewed it in. Not sure if a hack was used, but it worked.

from my reads though, isn't opera sort of disappearing? It doesn't seem to have as many using it as it did before?

bobby -> RE: css rounded box generator (5/13/2005 15:39:37)

and built to service a group of Internet illiterates...  :)

Most of what I've put on the site over the years has had to be scaled back because our visitors just don't know how to use it... like javascript pop-out menus, for example.

I get an email from Gary, "Hey Bobby, great job on the site but feature xyz is confusing people, can you change it back?"

LOL

Used to have a login area where drivers could post their pictures, messages, sponsors, website links, etc.  And fans could keep tabs on their favorite drivers in the series, etc.

Now it's pretty much a blog and photo gallery  [:D]

Only the simple web form for posting to the Articles is still too complicated, so they just email them to me and I upload them...

One of the things you have to do for WCAG 3 Accessibility is make sure Form Fields have a start value in them. I set the value in my search box to Find......

I was checking my search stats and you should see the number of searches for Find.....xxxxxxx

Also put a value in my feedback form which says
Replace with email..... I've had loads of mails coming through with

Replace with email......fred@duhwhat.com

You can't win. You really can't. [&o]
