Since installing SP2 for win XP it keeps blocking my page testing when I open web pages with scripts in them direct from my own PC. A shufty through the security settings on ie6 hasn't enlightened me at all as to what I need to turn off to stop this keep happening - any offers?

Tools>Internet Options>Security

Then you'll need to use Custom and set what you want to enable and disable.

WARNING

if you enable things so you don't get this problem locally, they'll also be enabled when you go online.

Suggestion...... use Firefox.

Well, it was 'what' exactly to turn off I wasn't sure about? Once I know that I can decide if it will have any serious effect on surfing security.

I use Firefox for checks but the majority still use IE so I like to check it there first.

Dan is partially right. You need to look down the list and find the items disabled or, more likely set to prompt. Those are the ones causing the message

In mine for example I have the mixed content set to prompt and that always brings up the warning.

I've previously tried lots of combinations (including 'low' security). I have the active scripting enabled as per Dan's screen shot (thanks Dan) but it still don't like it!

test it 'live' in your personal webspace? some low level folder on a server?

I have no problems with this 'live' online - the probelm is occuring (frequently!) when I test pages (with scripts in them) by opening them from my own hard drive

Rick, check out the settings which have Prompt next to them and play with those. It'll be one of them.
