Unique problem! - 4/25/2005 15:03:57
Okay folks, here goes:

MS Internet explorer WILL NOT work on my computer because the original files are corrupt and will not let me install over it. No way around this it seems.

I want to use Front page and upload pages but cannot because it does not recognize my Netscape internet connection for uploading or downloading. Is there any way to use Netscape Navigator as my internet connection with Frontpage?

Thanks in advance to anybody smart enough to answer this.

Netscape Navigator is a browser, not an internet connection...

Also, I would suggest you download and install a better browser: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

Are you on dial up? Or is your internet connected through another computer or cable modem?

Yeah I'm aware of that but because Internet explorer cannot open, Frontpage cannot recognize my highspeed cable connection and it thinks I'm offline.

Will I be able to upload and download from Frontpage using Mozzila as my browser?

PS just tried downloading that Mozzila and all I get is "unspecified error" when trying to open it.

- If you can connect to the internet, even if you don't have internet explorer, the connection should still be available.

It sounds like there might be some serious issues with your computer if 1) You cannot connect to the internet without IE 2) IE doesn't work 3) You can't install the Mozilla FireFox install file. You might want to run a virus and trojan scanner to make sure you do not have anything like that on your computer.

Are you:

1) Running a firewall?
2) Running an Anti-Virus?
3) Checking for Spyware on a regular basis?
4) Using Windows 9x/2000/NT/XP/2003?

Do you:

1) Have IE set to use the BB connection, rather than another one?
2) Have a network connection present for the Broadband in My Network Places/Network Neighbour Hood?

Dan

theres a setting somewhere in the registery i'm guessing that IE uses to say its in offline mode
and a prog like front page reads it to see if your online and if your ie is fried and you cant unset the setting then front page might refuse to even try to connect to the site till you fix it
if no1 else can find a prob i can load up a reg moniter and try going in and out of offline mode to find out where it saves the setting and make a .reg file to force online mode without IE
