How to Set up Email? - 4/28/2005 0:03:33
Hi,

I just had a hard drive crash on my Dell 8400 and had a new (blank) hard drive installed. I am hosted by OutFront and my domain is palmeter.com. Can someone please give me the step by step instructions for setting up Outlook Express so that I can get back into my email accounts?

I believe the first answer is: POP3
What is the incoming mail server called?
What is the STMP (outgoing) mail server called?

I am not very knowledgeable about email so would appreciate any help.

Thanks,
David

Thomas,

Thanks for the info. I have set up Outlook Express at my end but still no email. Isn't my mail account still set up at OutFront?

What is the web address for my Control Panel? I still have all my passwords.

Thanks,
D

depending on your ISP you may have to use their outgoing (SMTP) server instead of your domain...

I've run into that on Earthlink and SBC/Yahoo so far... not sure about others...?

Well guess what? My third Maxtor hard drive has crashed in the last 4 months and I get to do all this over again.

I got to the tutorial:

"The first thing to do is to set up a new mailbox. In the main nav bar, click Mailboxes/Users. > Click "Add User"......etc"

Please remind me again, which "main nav bar" are we talking about and how do I get there?

Thanks,
David

Hi

It is refering to the site administration panel for your website.

As you have already done this there is no need for it to be done.

All you need to do is set up the email in Outlook.

Ian,

Thanks for your help, I got it going again. This time I will be sure to record all this info for the next time (which I hope never happens).
