The OutFront Server has the only copy...... - 4/29/2005 17:41:55
....of my web site. I had a complete hard drive failure recently. I had a recent backup for everything EXCEPT my web site (don't ask). Since the web site (palmeter.com) is hosted on the OutFront server(s), what is the most efficient way to get a copy back on my Dell 8400 running XP Professional. The web site was created in FrontPage 2000 and I am average capable with that software. I DO NOT speak FTP. Any ideas? or tutorials? Tough Luck? Thanks, David

If I understand your situation, you just need to "publish" back to your hard drive from the server. check out this article: http://www.outfront.net/tutorials_02/getting_started/publishing.htm How do I open my web site live? File > Open Web > Type in your url (including http://) like this http://www.url.com > Open > Enter UserID and Password. I'll look for more links and post again.

David, make sure Outfront has a current backup of your site before you do this. I advised a client the other day to do this, but something went wrong, and the navigation was then lost. We had to re-create the navigation, but if we had a backup it would have saved us some time. You can also ask Outfront to send you a link to download the backup file, then open that up, and it should contain your FrontPage Website folder.
