Using <meta name="revisit-after" to your a... - 4/30/2005 2:48:24
Curious, does adding the code <meta name="revisit-after" to your header help with your website in terms of ranks?
Does it piss off the bot to set the day to every 5 days? Is it better to do this if you have constant updates? I usually notice robots coming to the site a few times per day, so maybe this tag is not needed in this situation...

My experiences are that it doesn't matter. I have revisit set to 2 days on many sites that Googlebot reindexes every day. I have smaller sites that have revisit set to 3 days and the bot comes around once per week.
Maybe someone else is getting better mileage out of it than me. For all new sites/pages I don't include that tag any longer. I think Meta tags are worthless if you have quality content and even better back links.

It's completely worthless and has only ever been used by some obscure Canadian(?) search engine.
