Reflect Posts: 4769 From: USA Status: offline	Link tracking - 5/2/2005 11:04:40 I need an automated way to track links on other sites to mine. I keep an Excel spread sheet of URL, page, date requested, date added, and 6 month verification. I normaly track manually on the last two columns (verification periods). Anything out there for this? I now have a spread sheet that has a column for the URL down to the page that the "other" site has placed my link on. I manualy visit these sites and verify that the link to my site still exists, normaly once every other month. This wastes a lot of time. I was looking to somwhow automate this. In reading the info at the first site it certainly seemed to me that link tracking was what they offered just that you would generate/supply the link to the other site so it could be tracked (or report activity). The following worked a nice treat... http://www.softbizsolutions.com/automatic-link-checker-script-features.php I set it up in around 15 minutes. Most of the time was spent by my own lack of skills using phpmyadmin. Once I "got" that part the rest was cake. I did not modify any pages other than to add robot exclusions (why would I want this found?). My wife, who does link campaigns, is now utilizing this script for tracking. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles but you know what...I didn't want any. I just wanted a product that would do my tracking for me. I am a very satisfied user. Thank you kitka!
