Any Mac Guru's Out There? - 5/6/2005 7:50:43
I need the advice from a Mac Guru. I am finally getting a new computer, but am encountering some decision problems. I have a very tight budget and need to get through the next 1-2 years with an iMac. I have found the people here very generous in sharing their knowledge and experience. I hope you can help me make a decision. I need this stuff yesterday. Things are beginning to happen FAST and I need to get going. I am a self-marketing, self-publishing artist. I don't do any digital darkroom. I need to put out professional looking printed cards, promos, and cross-platform cd presentations for galleries and similar venues. And of course, maintain my own web site. I currently have a OLD G4 dinosaur. The cost of software is killing me. Is www.buysusa.com/html/macintosh.html legitimate? Will these versions run on X or in Classic. How can they sell this stuff for only $99. What is the catch? Are there other options? I need Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Fireworks and a page making apps. I've used Quark in the past but $800 is out of the question. I also need a db apps and some color management system. My priorities are the printer (Epson R1800) and a scanner (microteck or epson?) to scan original artwork for print and electronic reproductions. I am open to suggestions. My goal is to cut the bottom line down as much as possible. If I can't, I will be stuck with the 17" 1.6 iMac for $999, but I really want the new 20". Thank you so much Rosemary

I Just found: www.protechmanuals.com/catalog/webspecials-a.htm#cs I know that InDesign comes with the standard version of the Creative Suite and I may go that route to save some money. I am not married to any page making apps. But I really really want Dreamwearver/Fireworks and a 20".
