I have to agree with Dave & Donkey, especially on the graphics and grammar. I can't stand poor grammar! The graphics need to have a smoother feel. I understand that you want to look different than your competitor auction site - but you can also learn from that site. Most successful, top ranking business sites follow the KISS rule: Keep it Simple, Stupid. If you look at Amazon.com, and eBay, and other TOP merchant sites, you'll find they have two things in common: elegant, clean looking graphics, and very simple schemes. I tend to become uncomfortable on sites where there is a "lot" visually going on...and I don't think that's unique to just me. One local newspaper site drove me batty because it was the craziest, godawfulest collection of jagged graphics, busy and loud backgrounds, and just all around tackiness. I only went to the site to try and find the obituaries. lol. Imagine my shock one day when they had traded that site in for a template - yes, it did look like most other newspaper sites with just a different masthead, but it didn't give me a headache looking at it, and I go back now to read it several times a week. I think you'll be much more successful if you tone it down a bit...use the color sparingly (perhaps use that funky gradient just at the top, or as a divider bar or something...I like the gradient, but not such a large dose of it.)
